WITH its tenure in Tanzania in turmoil, Indiana Resources has decided to join the likes of Resolute Mining, Birimian and B2Gold prospecting for big West African gold deposits, with the company securing an option over Mukuyu Resources.

Mukuyu has two highly prospective exploration licences covering 126sq.km of the Kenieba Province, which is host to the 13 million ounce Sadiola and 12Moz Loulo deposits.

Indiana chair Bronwyn Barnes said both permits, which have been worked on by Mukuyu for several years, had immediate walk up drill targets and previous high-grade drill results including 18m at 3.35 grams per tonne and 4.5m at 18.55gpt.

She said the opportunity to secure Mukuyu, which is 100% owned by former Goldfields employee Peter Anderton, was an exceptional opportunity.

The company believes it can build on the work done by Mukuyu, such as soil geochemistry, geophysics, trenching and shallow drilling, and would have an in-country exploration team that would allow it to advance quickly.
