AUSTRALIAN mining services firm Macmahon Holdings has signed an agreement that will fold in Brisbane-based coal and civil contractor TMM Group into the Perth-based company.

TMM, which provides civil construction, mine planning and design services, and operations and maintenance services to the Queensland coal mining industry, is considered an important lever in Macmahon’s strategy of both diversifying and winning more mining work.

It said the additional civil capability would “be an enabler” to its core mining work through contracts for initial site earthworks and construction services, as well as the ability to target site rehabilitation projects.

TMM’s annual revenue was said to be about order of A$60 million and it employs around 250 people, but Macmahon will “seek to rapidly grow the business by pursuing opportunities across Australia”, although it does not see a material impact on Macmahon’s results for this fiscal year.
