ONE of the world’s leading mining consultancies will use the upcoming PDAC 2018 event in Toronto to promote a refreshed brand. AMC Consultants managing director Patrick Smith told MNN the reset at the pivotal junior end of the mining market was gaining new impetus, too, setting AMC and its clients up for a strong year.

AMC is Australia-based but has a growing global presence. It has about 160 staff, including 110 consultants.

On the expansion front, veteran senior consultant Mark Chesher's move to Moscow this month to open a branch office is expected to help the firm build on the business development impetus in the country he has established out of Australia in the past four years.

Smith said AMC was seeing a "significant uplift" in activity worldwide. "Russia, South America and South-East Asia stand out," he said. "It appears the uplift in all three of these regions is a combination of AMC becoming better known as well as the improving market for mining services.
