"We forgot who we were for a time and what made the company successful," he said.
Barrick's wilderness years during the commodity price supercycle saw the company become "single-minded in its pursuit of quantity not quality", he said. "We lost our discipline. We had too many regional offices, we became top heavy and forgot our partnership focus."
Speaking to theGold and Silver Investor Hub in an exclusive interview following his keynote address, Dushnisky reflected that "partnerships really were the foundation of Barrick … so as we looked to transition back and capture the original Barrick DNA … one of the key aspects of that was the partnerships".
