Mining heavyweights, including Glencore boss Ivan Glasenberg, Ivanhoe Mines founder Robert Friedland and Randgold CEO Mark Bristow, have had a marathon meeting with Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila in Kinshasha on Wednesday.
The meeting was to clarify certain aspects of the proposed new mining code, set to be signed into law by the President imminently.
Randgold said the President gave assurances that the issues raised by the miners would be resolved through discussions with the government.
According to MMG CEO Jerry Jiao, the meeting went for six hours and no changes have been made to the new code.
