OZ MINERALS’ takeover target Avanco has put back completion of the feasibility study for the Pedra Branca copper-gold project in Brazil by around six months.

The feasibility study was due for completion in the current quarter but has been "rescheduled" for the fourth quarter.

Avanco said the "critical path" for Pedra Branca was "infill drilling, ore reserve estimation, metallurgical testing and underground mine design and scheduling".

Completion of the feasibility work could now more closely correspond with the grant of the environmental licence in the third quarter and "the subsequent installation licence before year end".

Meanwhile Avanco has reported that a public hearing for the project that attracted about 800 people hadn't recorded any objections, "indicating a strong level of public support".
