AUSTRALIA’S next lithium producer has begun commissioning the processing plant at the Bald Hill operation southeast of Kalgoorlie.

Tawana Resources, which holds a 50% stake in the project, expects first ore feed in March as the plant is ramped up to full capacity over the next few months.

At full speed, the low capex Bald Hill has been pegged to produce 155,000 tonnes per annum of spodumene concentrate and 260,000 pounds pa of tantalum pentoxide.

Tawana joins Orocobre, Galaxy, Mineral Resources/Neometals as new producers in the current era listed on the ASX, with other companies such as Pilbara, Altura and Argosy all in the process of developing operations.
