Through such conferences as OPO 2012, The AusIMM achieves one of its key goals of providing the means by which members and the industry in general can keep abreast of technical developments and prove a forum to share views and opinions within the industry.
The conference, OPO 2012, will again be held in Perth, Western Australia, a State that continues to dominate in the Australian mining industry solid position in the global wide commodity boom. The significance of long distance commute rosters, which make up about half of the State's mine operations, continues to make a significant impact on the State's economy, demography and even culture, as well as the individuals' life style.
