Investors again buy ASX miners

MINERS gained a bit of strength over the course of the ASX trading day, with the Metals & Mining index showing a rise of about 0.6% by the close of session.

The gains came with metal futures in positive territory, including gold, though with bullion remaining under US$1300 per ounce, the gold patch was not a place for buyers.

On the other hand buyers were interested in Whitehaven Coal, whose near-7% gain came with better sentiment toward steel and following it yesterday cleaning up ownership of the Tarrawonga mine.

Amongst the juniors though it was all rather flat.

Still Pacifico Minerals (PMY) gained more than 36% after being granted a "strategic" zinc licence yesterday in the Northern Territory between tenure it already holds that's subject of a joint venture with Sandfire Resources.
