Rio Tinto awaits tariff exemption

Rio Tinto's US$2 billion of annual aluminium sales from Canada to the United States may be spared from a 10% tariff proposed by President Donald Trump, the White House has signaled, according to the Australian Financial Review.

"There are potential carve-outs for Mexico and Canada based on national security, and possibly other countries as well based on that process," White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.
