Mining wages on the rise as skills shortage bites
One of Australia's biggest mining contractors has defied claims about wage stagnation by increasing pay rates on some sites by an average of 10%, according to the Australian Financial Review.
BGC Contracting said the recent pay rises reflected heavy demand for skilled workers as commodity prices stabilised at higher levels and the mining industry returned to boom times.

The mining, resources and energy industries were labelled the ‘fastest growing’ on Seek in late 2017 and are showing no signs of slowing down in 2018, the Townsville Bulletin reports.
