WESTGOLD Resources’ gold business in Western Australia continued evolving in the December quarter with 68,094 ounces produced, dewatering of the planned flagship Big Bell operation completed and rehabilitation and refurbishment now underway.

Westgold sold 73,317oz and generated earnings of A$19.8 million, with all-in-sustaining-costs coming in at $1420 per ounce.

Aside from Big Bell, other positives included the Tuckabianna plant being on track to come into operation ahead of schedule and below budget. 

On the negative, gold production was “hampered slightly by structural issues within the crushing circuit at Higginsville and throughput (issues) at the Fortnum plant”.

Westgold has five processing plants, 10 open pits and four underground mines, with another 10 open pits and five underground mines in the pipeline.

Resources total over 16 million ounces and reserves more than 3.3Moz.
